Patient FAQs

My insurance requires I use certain laboratories, what insurances does Pathline Emerge Pathology Services participate?

Pathline Emerge Pathology Services has contracts or accepts allowable reimbursement with most insurance companies. Please contact our lab with any questions, (877) 994-6866.

Why have I received a bill from Pathline Emerge Pathology Services?

Please keep in mind you may be referring to an Explanation of Benefits, “EOB”, from your insurance.  If so, this is not a bill.  If you have not received an actual bill from Pathline Emerge Pathology Services, then you most likely are not responsible for balances referenced in your insurance EOB.  Pathline Emerge Pathology Services is focused on patient care and satisfaction.  It participates with most insurance plans so patients do not have undue bills not covered by their health insurance.  Please contact Pathline Emerge Pathology Services at (877) 994-6866 instead of your referring physician / surgery center.  Our in-office staff is best suited to handle any of your questions / concerns and resolve your insurance issues.

Can I pay my bill online?

Can I receive electronic statements?

You may receive electronic statements by clicking here to create an account where you can opt out of paper bills.

Do you offer payment plans or discounts?

We can work with you on payment options.  Please contact us at (877) 994-6866 to discuss.

I received a check.  Should I send it to you?

Yes, please endorse your check and write, “Pay to the order of Histopathology Services” and mail it with a copy of your explanation of benefits from your insurance company to PO Box 781188, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1188.

How long will it take to get my test results?

Your referring physician will receive the report and interpret the findings in combination with your medical history and other tests. Your referring physician will contact you to discuss the results or you may choose to call his / her office. Pathline Emerge Pathology Services offers same day telephone or fax results on all malignant cases to the referring physician. We also offer same day second opinion for patients’ previous cases from other laboratories when slides are available.

Are my test results kept confidential?

Yes, Pathline Emerge Pathology Services is HIPAA compliant and adheres to strict confidentiality policies.  Patient privacy is maintained at all times.

Can you help me to understand my test results?

You should contact your referring physician if you have any questions about your test results. Your physician will interpret your laboratory test results in conjunction with information about your medical history, physical examination, and other test results, and provide you with medical advice, follow up and treatment.
